EMPLOYMENT COACH

The Employment Coach (EC) is a Rubicon coaching community member and direct service provider. Our coaches partner with participants on their journeys to careers of their choice.  
The EC contributes to participants' success by partnering with them to create and update employment assets: cover letters, resumes, and LinkedIn profiles, while strengthening their capacity to conduct online job searches and interviews. Coaching is critical to supporting participants in overcoming internal and external barriers to obtaining and retaining positive employment experiences. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to a Career Advisor. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist participants in identifying, selecting, and applying for open positions matching their qualifications. This involves sharing timely employment information and resources and promoting Rubicon’s Job Connect for access to employer job orders and leads.
  • Provide individual and group employment readiness workshops, discussion groups, and/or classes based on participant needs, including resume development, interviewing skills, and online job search resources and strategies.
  • Provide participants with ongoing coaching and support throughout the job search process; collaborate with the Impact Coach and Workforce Liaison for service coordination as needed; motivate participants to achieve goals and provide participants with honest, productive feedback.
  • Coordinate employment readiness workshops and oversight of the computer lab and lab volunteers; assess participant level of computer proficiency and assist them in the use of the computers including accessing MS Word, Excel, and Outlook in support of their job search activities.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong experience and expertise with employment readiness training and/or effective job search strategies.
  • Solid workshop facilitation skills and abilities, computer and internet proficiency.
  • Teamwork, interpersonal flexibility, excellent organization and communication skills, and the ability to inspire others.
  • Cultural responsiveness and an alignment with our values and commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • If you don't currently possess Rubicon's organizational core competencies of Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Coaching, Rubicon provides necessary training.

This position requires occasional travel to appointments and other Rubicon meetings. If the employee opts to meet these travel requirements by driving, proof of a valid and current driver's license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • $20 - $26/hour.
